Chamber of Commerce announces leadership transition

SIOUX FALLS – The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that its President & CEO Jason Ball will leave the organization for a similar position with the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce in Round Rock, Texas. Ball's departure comes after two and a half years of service to the Chamber.

"Sioux Falls is an amazing city with so much to look forward to. It has been my greatest professional honor to work with so many business leaders and the staff here," said Ball. "At the same time, this opportunity in the greater Austin metro area was something I could not pass by."

"Jason came to the Chamber during a time of great change. We appreciate the work that he has done for the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce," said Tim Sturdevant, Chair of the Chamber's Board of Directors and President & CEO of Sturdevant's Auto Parts. "We wish Jason and his family success and happiness in their new community."

The Board of Directors met this afternoon to discuss and authorize the appointment of an Interim President and to initiate a search process. The Board has made it a priority to maintain the momentum of the Chamber by naming Dr. Dave Kapaska as Interim President. Kapaska retired in 2017 as Regional President & CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. He is also a past Chair of the Chamber Board. "I'm excited to work with the staff of the Chamber. They are a talented and dedicated team, and they do so much for this city," said Kapaska.

The Board of Directors also authorized the services of Waverly Associates to begin the search for a new executive. Waverly Associates has previously provided executive search services for the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce.

Kapaska will begin working with Ball to prepare for the interim period on August 12. Ball's final day with the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will be Friday, August 16.
