Winter Wonderland runs through Jan. 3
The Winter Wonderland kick-off was a great success. Mayor Dave Munson officially flipped the switch to light up Falls Park on Nov. 21 for the 7th Annual Winter Wonderland at Falls Park. The event attracts thousands of people to the city's namesake. The park will continue to "light up" nightly through Jan. 3, 2010.
Falls Park is decorated in thousands of beautiful holiday lights and garland along with some new, lighted displays. To be exact, there are 238,786 tiny lights, 212 decorated trees, and 229 decorated light poles.
At the kick-off, adults and children were able to enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate, along with horse-drawn wagon rides, holiday dancers, music, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a look at Santa's two live reindeer and camel and a few zoo animals.
The Sioux Falls CVB would like to thank the following kick-off event sponsors: Sanford Health, The Empire Mall/Empire East, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Monarch Sales, Sioux Falls Regional Airport Authority, Nyberg's Ace, Holiday Inn City Centre, Quality Inn & Suites, Air Guard Federal Credit Union, and Alphagraphics.
