Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was the Diplomat of the Month for November. Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc., took second place honors and Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, took third place honors. The winner of the Diplomat Reinvestment Blitz was Sandy Case, U.S. Postal Service. The Diplomat Team of the Month includes: Captain Kathy Jurgens, The Empire Mall/Empire East; Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc.; Jenifer Geerts, Best Business Products, Inc.; and Dawn Koenig, AMERI/STAR Real Estate.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS
Katy Morris is the Special Events Coordinator for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She is planning the JDRF Sioux Falls Walk to Cure Diabetes on Jan. 30, 2010 at The Empire Mall.
Jeff Cordell was recently named general manager for Handyman Matters. Cordell has been in the construction field for more than 20 years. Handyman Matters is a locally owned and operated franchise covering Sioux Falls and Sioux City.
SilverStone Group promoted Suzie Tolzin from Account Manager to Vice President in the Group Benefits division. With more than 19 years of experience in Group Benefits, Tolzin has developed into one of the premier management professionals in the Sioux Falls region. She has worked extensively with large, sophisticated clients who utilize a self-funded approach to benefits plans. Dan LaRock was also promoted from Account Executive to Vice President in the Group Benefits division. LaRock was previously the lead account executive for the South Dakota employee benefits division. He joined SilverStone Group in 2006 and works with employers with complicated funding arrangements and large, multi-site organizations. LaRock spent the previous 12 years in professional public relations, fundraising and consulting positions.

The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE) announced the 2009 Building Industry Award Winners: HBASE Builder Member of the Year Dudley Deffenbaugh, Deffenbaugh Homes; HBASE Associate Member of the Year Deb Ziemke, Plains Commerce Bank; Presidential Award Winners Kim Hefner with Home Federal Bank, Scott Hjellming with Hjellming Construction and Paul Nelsen with Paul Nelsen Construction.
Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America recognized Marco as a Hyakuman Kai Elite Dealer. Sharp awards Hyakuman Kai Elite status to dealers that provide exceptional service to the local business community. Marco is among a select group of dealers recognized by Sharp from the hundreds of dealers that sell Sharp’s advanced color and monochrome business products in the U.S.
Alicia Schumacher, Media Planner/Buyer at Insight Marketing Design, was awarded Google Advertising Certification. To receive this certification, professionals must pass the Google Advertising Exam and manage multiple Google AdWords accounts.

Marketing materials created by Insight Marketing Design are featured in two recently published books. The Big Book of Green Design, published in 2009 by Collins Design, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing, New York, includes four pieces created by Insight. The Big Book of Green Design features top green design materials created worldwide. Another title in the “Big Book� design series, The Big Book of Self-Promotion from the same publisher, also released in 2009, also contains several pieces from Insight
Prairie Business magazine, a monthly regional business publication that covers North Dakota, South Dakota and western Minnesota, released its 20 under 40 list of some of the best and brightest young professionals for 2009. Chamber members included in this list were: Paul Ten Haken, Founder and President of Click Rain Inc.; Micah Aberson, Director of Business Development for Lawrence & Schiller; Brian Jans, Vice President of Jans Corporation; and Chris Thorkelson, Vice President of Construction and Development for Lloyd Companies.
