Chamber leadership program fosters sense of commitment, builds diverse network

Leadership Sioux Falls, sponsored by the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, is a dynamic and interactive eight-month experience designed to promote and enhance community leadership through an introduction to social, economic, business and political issues in the Sioux Falls area.

The programs of Leadership Sioux Falls are designed to assist a diverse group of potential, emerging and existing community leaders gain an a better understanding of the strengths, challenges and skills necessary to motivate and engage others in collaborative efforts.

The Sioux Falls community is fortunate to have had several visionaries who, years ago, saw the potential for developing a formalized leadership program through the auspices of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. Since 1986, the program has become and remains a signature Chamber member-service, community-building program. More than 650 individuals have graduated and are serving their employers and the Sioux Falls community in active community-building efforts by serving in many volunteer capacities, sitting on the boards of directors of local organizations, and participating in local government. Program alumni have become the CEO's of their companies and many have been elected to public offices.

Effective leadership is a key element in any successful community. Continually encouraging the participation of new leaders is essential in developing fresh ideas and perspectives and ensuring a continuity of leaders for the future. Whether you've lived in the area for a short time or for decades, Leadership Sioux Falls will open your eyes to new challenges and opportunities and the role you can play in shaping the future of the community. Topics covered include economic development healthcare, education, government and politics, quality of life, fundraising, law enforcement and community safety, media relations, ethics, leadership styles as well as our community's rich history.

The quality of the participants is the primary strength of the program. They represent public and private sectors, civic and community organizations. Leadership Sioux Falls is open to all people who live or work in the Sioux Falls area.
