Hoop dreams: Summit League road to Final Four starts in Sioux Falls Sioux Falls will make sports history this month when the Summit League Basketball Tournament airs on ESPN, making it the first nationally-televised live sporting event from South Dakota.
The tournament, to be held March 7-10 at the Sioux Falls Arena, will pit the top eight men's and women's teams from the Summit League for a berth into the NCAA Division I Final Four Tournament, which begins March 17. This year's tournament will have an estimated economic impact of between $1 million and $2 million on the community, officials say. Ticket sales are already better than last year's tournament in Tulsa, Okla., which hosted the tournament for the past four years.
