YPN plans for summit in 2011

The Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network is planning an educational summit for other young professionals from across the region. The two-day event would be held in the fall of 2011 in Sioux Falls.

"The goal is to develop an event that is informative and educational and is a benefit for both young professionals and their employers," said YPN Steering Committee Lesa Jarding, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. "The summit will also have an economic impact on our area by bringing young professionals to our city and introducing them to the opportunities available to them here in Sioux Falls and across our region."

Attendees will likely be members of the Sioux Falls YPN or other local and regional young professionals groups. They will meet to learn more about leadership, networking and business through breakout sessions, networking events and keynote speakers.

YPN members were recently surveyed about their preferences on days of the week to hold the summit, topics for breakout sessions and the support they would have from their employers to attend a summit.

Planning is still underway. This month, the Chamber will survey its primary contacts, which include business owners or decision-makers, to gauge their support for the summit and gather their suggestions for breakout sessions that would benefit attendees. Following that, the Chamber will also survey area young professionals networks. Groups from across South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska will be invited to the summit.
