The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce announces that Jason M. Ball will serve as the new President/CEO of the organization. Ball succeeds Evan Nolte, who will retire after 37 years of service.
The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce is one of the strongest, most vibrant chambers of commerce in the U.S. with more than 2,200 members. The Chamber President/CEO plays a key leadership role in the area, serving as the region’s prime business advocate and a catalyst for progress.
The Chamber’s Board of Directors contracted with Waverly Partners, LLC, a professional recruiting firm with expertise in chamber searches, to conduct a nationwide search. Dr. Dave Kapaska, Chair of the Board of Directors, says, “We had a number of very talented candidates interested in the position. Jason demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking with results, and a keen sense of people – all of which made him a great match for our Chamber.”
Ball says he is eager to get started in the new role. “I am so grateful to the Sioux Falls Area Chamber and its leadership for this opportunity. This position would be attractive to anyone involved in Chamber work due to the strong business base and engaged leadership in Sioux Falls. It is an honor to have been selected, and I am ready to get started.”
Ball has served as the President/CEO of the Hutchinson / Reno County Chamber of Commerce in Hutchinson, Kan. since 2012. There he is responsible for oversight of all Chamber programs including membership engagement, economic development, public policy and the CVB. Ball is a Certified Economic Developer, holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and is a graduate of Oklahoma University’s Economic Development Institute. He was selected as one of Development Counsellors International, “40 under 40 – Rising Stars in Economic Development” in 2015.
“We are excited to welcome Jason’s enthusiasm and energy to our community,” states Kapaska. ““Our community and region face important opportunities and challenges. We expect that the Chamber, with Jason’s leadership, will continue to be a successful advocate for our businesses and community as a whole for years to come.”
Ball will assume his new role on February 1, 2017. Nolte has agreed to postpone his retirement date to February 1 in order to ensure a smooth transition.
